The impressive listed building, number 12, Austin Friars, a lovely little cul-de-sac behind Throgmorton Street, was acquired by the Company in April 2005. The acquisition was, of course, our most important development since becoming a Livery Company over forty years ago. The Furniture Makers thus became the fourth Livery company since 1632 to acquire their first Hall. On the ground floor of the nineteenth century building there is a large dining room for as many as 70 and smaller ones on this and the first floor. Offices, including our own and the Furnishing Trades Benevolent Association, occupy the top three floors. The chief feature of the interior is this magnificent spiral staircase now mirrored by the recently installed reception desk. The Hall is owned by Furniture Makers Company Ltd. Kudos Hospitality now manage and operate all events and also are the in-house caterers at this prestigious venue.
